Skinnymint Review

By Laura (Senior Reviewer) | Last updated Nov 5, 2016.

We were very excited to start our Skinnymint Review. Skinnymint has been on the market for a few years now. If you’ve been looking at teatox products you’ve probably seen Skinnymint on your favourite search engine somewhere. We decided we’d take a closer look at this popular product.

Before we could start our Skinnymint review we had to order the product online. Unfortunately Skinnymint is not available in stores and can only be ordered online via their homepage. We placed our order and within a couple of weeks it arrived. The order arrived in a padded envelope, containing both pouches of tea. The shipping process had really crushed a lot of the teabags inside which was a shame.

First Impressions
Our Skinnymint review team’s first impression was the packaging; The product didn’t look as pretty as on the website. The tea is literally rammed into a resealable plastic pouch. It would have been nicer if it was in a nice premium carton like Bootea and TEATU.

Regardless, the day time tea didn’t taste bad, in fact it tasted fine. It’s not winning any award for beverage of the year, but it wasn’t bad. A lot of teatox products can taste so bad that you can’t even drink them – this was a nice change. The night time tea tasted exactly the same, this is probably due to the ingredients/flavourings used being quite similar.

The bed time cleanse tea induced a strong laxative effect. Make sure you leave enough time on a morning to deal with that.

Skinnymint Teatox Company Facts

– Produced under the trading name Skinnymint, the parent company name is Bodyboost Pty Ltd.

– There are 14 and 28 day teatox products in stock.

– Has been endorsed by Kylie Jenner (though we are unsure if this was for free, or a paid sponsor).

What does Skinnymint Teatox claim to do?

While researching for our Skinnymint review we compiled a list of claims that the manufacturer makes. The Skinnymint site claims that their teatox naturally reduces appetite, boosts energy and “naturally purifies the body”, the latter being applicable to the night time cleanse blend. We are assuming that naturally purifying the body is referring to the laxative effect triggered by this tea. Other than these 3 claims, there’s nothing else that boldly claims you will lose weight. Although the site imagery and wording on the site heavily implies it’s a weight loss product, they don’t go as far to call the skinnymint teatox a “weight loss tea”.

Looking at the day time tea claims, these are not totally outrageous. Detox tea has been known to naturally reduce appetite, which in the longer term can lead to weight loss. The caffeine within the tea can boost energy levels too. It’s nice to see a company not promise numerous things it absolutely cannot deliver, as we’ve seen with many other brands.

What Are The Teatox Ingredients?

Skinnymint do not disclose the exact amounts of ingredients per teabag, which is a shame. Sometimes when companies do not disclose this information it means that there is only a small amount of the expensive ingredients in proportion to the cheaper ingredients bulking out the tea blend.

The website states the ingredients are..

Day blend: Green Tea, Yerba Mate, Nettle Leaves, Dandelion, Guarana Fruit.

Night blend: Ginger Root, Orange Leaves, Lemongrass, Senna Leaves, Peppermint, Licorice Root, Hawthorn Berries, Psyllium Husk.

Are There Any Side Effects To This Teatox?

Skinnymint do not disclose whether or not the product has any side effects, however looking at independent reviews, side effects can include headaches, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort and vomiting. An important thing to remember when using products that induce a laxative effect is dehydration is likely. Therefore it’s important to remain well hydrated while using this product.

Are There Any Reviews From Customers?

Looking around the internet we found various reviews. We are always sceptical of some reviews on the manufacturers homepage as they tend to be heavily moderated. We hand picked reviews from verified purchasers below.

This product had no positive effect for me. A big disappointment.

tastes good if nothing else! Yet to see benefits but working for me on detox & night tea even if not necessarily following every other day

So Does Skinnymint Teatox Work?

Our Skinnymint review team analysed the ingredients within the product and concluded that they results will not help you burn fat. However, it is important to note that Skinnymint never mentioned the product would help you lose weight. This product will only help you drop water weight in the short term (at least until you eat or drink something again).

As this product causes diarrhea, it is important to note that this won’t necessarily reduce bloating. It can in fact cause further bloating from irritating the bowel and causing inflammation (Source, NHS). Products that cause diarrhea should not be used for longer than 3-4 days at a time as it can cause weakening and damage to the bowel from constant irritation. Long term use of laxatives can also cause your body to build up a dependency on them.

Where Can I Buy This Product?

This product is available from the Skinnymint website and Amazon.

Our Verdict

Our Skinnymint review team have concluded that the Skinnymint teatox is essentially just an expensive laxative tea. We believe the ingredients used are of decent quality, however the reviews lead us to believe its may be a bit overhyped. As we stated earlier, the tea caused no reduction in body fat, therefore we don’t think it is the ultimate weight loss tea available on the market, as their marketing would have you believe!

For the best weight loss tea, we recommend you look at TEATU.
